Testimonials

I really enjoyed the day and honestly have been raving about it since. I can’t get over the amount I actually learned and being a second time mother I thought I knew it all lol!!
Honestly, I feel so much more positive and I feel I actually am informed and confident in my capacity to make decisions on the day!
Thank you for that, it’s really  helped me to calm down and enjoy the next few weeks!

"
Sarah is fantastic! She is knowledgeable, calming, and empowering. Her wealth of knowledge from both a medical and a hypnobirthing perspective gave us all the information to take the mystery out of birthing. She delivered it with such an easy manner that at the end of it we were confident we could bring our baby into the world in the calm and controlled way that we wanted. " Cathy Molloy

The birth of baby Norah

After weeks of Braxton Hicks, interrupted sleep and several false starts, I finally went into labour at 39+2 weeks. Despite standing over a large puddle of water after hearing a loud pop and getting increasingly strong pressure like contractions, not my husband, mother, sister or father could convince me that I was in real labour. My waters actually broke at 12.15am and I was in the car en route to the hospital by 1am. Once I accepted I was in labour, I began listening to the Hypnobirthing affirmations on repeat.
Luckily, my father broke three red lights as he was bringing me in and we managed to arrive in record time. On check-in, my contractions were 2 minutes apart and very intense. I did not feel pain though, just unbelievable pressure. I concentrated on listening to my meditations, visualisations and affirmations. My husband did all the talking for me as I went into a very calm head space. I managed to walk up to the labour ward with the help of my husband and a lovely nurse. We arrived at 2.30am. Contractions were very much on top of each other at this point but that didn't seem to stop me from feeling the need to relieve myself and proceeded to put myself in the Delivery Ward toilets on my own and locking the door. I did have a scary moment of realisation while washing my hands that I could have easily given birth in the loo on my own. For this reason, I do not recommend being on your own. On my return to the delivery room, I met the loveliest of loveliest midwives and a doctor. Both of whom helped to get me comfortable on the bed. I had planned on delivering on the bed in a squat position but quite honestly, I didn't have the strength in my legs to do that. I got myself on my side and began to feel the urge to push. I had a moment of complete panic here, I shouted out that I had no idea how to push and nobody had taught me- I realise now that this was probably my actual transition stage flying past me. The urge to push became so great that when the midwife asked if she could check me, I told her there was no point as I'm going to start pushing now. I tried to keep breathing and kept getting my husband to put a cool cloth on my forehead, counting down the seconds of each contraction, giving me encouragement and pressing repeat on the affirmations. The midwife kept me breathing in and out and once I had my breathing right, the contractions were a lot easier. I had no constant fear of having the baby. I kept repeating to myself that "I can do anything for a minute" and "I was born to birth". With three mighty pushes, my baby's head crowned. I do remember having to ask for reassurance as I was about to deliver the shoulders but that was a fleeting moment. Baby Norah weighing 9lbs 7oz was born at 3.11am. I could not have asked for a better birthing experience or birthing team. My husband knew how to talk to me, how to keep me focused and how to comfort me. I was confident in what I needed and I was able to ask the midwife for help in the way I needed it. The 17th July 2017 will not only be memorable as it was my daughters' date of birth but it was also the most calm and confident I have ever been. I felt strong and reassured and unbelievably proud. This is all down to attending the Hypnobirthing classes and  practising the meditations, visualisations and affirmations. The classes also gave me time for my husband and I to talk at length about what kind of birthing experience we wanted and how we would cope with any eventuality. It was a lovely bonding experience too, a chance to slow down and enjoy being and talking to each other. I cannot praise and thank Sarah for her Hypnobirthing classes enough.

Mary's story - short and sweet

I had my baby on 17th June. Went two days early, no epidural. Waters broke at 7.30 pm on Thursday and got to hospital at 9.30 and had baby by 12.25. I got into the bath and when I got out they rushed me to delivery, two pushes and baby was there ! Used hypno in bath and it definitely helped . So another success story even if I was sceptical myself !!!
Many thanks

The birth of baby Bodhi

I had my little girl last Wednesday at 11:53 assisted by my wonderful partner, the midwife & the gas and air. My birthing experience started at 4 in the morning & I felt a squish. Which was my show after a few minutes the surges started. They came pretty steady every 10 minutes and I had a bath & used my birthing ball & the played the gentle birthing music. When I got out of the bath I put on my tens machine which had a boost for the surges which eased the intensity.
I had a cup of my raspberry leaf tea & then had another bath. When I was in the bath the surges became much more intense and came every 3 mins so we thought hmmm best start moving to the hospital. Of course it was the day of the strike! I guess my fear was challenged by my little one from day one. I had been fretting about her coming on a strike day.

The car journey was very intense and I felt I cried the whole journey but Brian told me it was about half way in when I started crying, which really helped me release the intense feelings and the surges were coming every 2 mins & lasting 1min 40 seconds by the time I got to the rotunda. The whole way in my other half kept repeating the affirmations for me, just one surge at a time & thats one closer to meeting our baby & he kept telling me how a amazing I was & how proud he was. The journey felt like forever but was only about 20 mins.

I was brought straight in by the staff out on strike , honestly midwives are beyond brilliant. So are nurses of course especially cos I am one myself  the sooner we stop getting thanked for our service & paid for it the better.
My waters broke as soon I got into the emergency assessment room at 10:40 The midwife did the admission CTG while I stood and gripped Brian’s shoulder as the surges came back to back. I was actually on my tippy toes pretty much all the time. They did a VE and told me I was 3cm. This is when I started to feel overwhelmed & thought what?!? Brian told me to let go of the number and we were going up to the delivery suite.
They brought us up as soon as the CTG was done & the midwife on the delivery unit was so lovely. She had read our birth plan & asked me to get on the bed so she could assess me but I could only kneel on all 4’s. After a few mins i got on My back & she gave me the gas and air which helped me take a breath. I got a little light headed & closed my eyes & just listened to my love Brian repeating the affirmations & telling me how amazing I was doing. The midwife spoke a little to me to give me supportive suggestions and then I felt a bearing feeling. I leaned to the back of the bed and could hear Brian & the horns beeping for the midwives outside showing support. I kept my eyes closed and then I had the feeling that I had no control over so I didn’t try. Then I heard the midwife say ok breath the head is out & all of a sudden I hear Brian say oh my love you just delivered a baby. I opened my eyes and looked down and saw my lovely daughter. She was 7lbs & 14 & 1/2 ozs, the half is so important

She was born 83 mins after I got to the rotunda which just felt so quickly. I did have a second degree tear, her head came out and she supergirled her arm out too. We did skin to skin which was so truely amazing and all the bits after are a complete blur. The placenta delivery, the stitches. Well The toast was yummy

I was on the post natal ward having had a shower & a change of clothes by 230

I honestly believe the hypnobirthing helped me relax enough on a subconscious level to let me body just simply birth. I did think I was always strong but now I know I am.

Thank you so much for everything, all the advice & support. It helped me have the birth I wanted.
